Research outline

I am focused on the chemistry underlying the biological functions involved in the oxidation and anti-oxidation and their application for developing useful catalysts and healthcare products. I use biochemical, spectroscopic, kinetic, thermodynamic, genetic, and computational approaches to understand the biological function and aim to solve the problems at the forefront of the chemistry for developing a sustainable and healthy society.

Specific areas of interest

1) Microbial methane metabolism including methane-oxidation enzymology and electron transport system: mechanisms and design of new biocatalytic processes for sustainable methane conversion

2) Cellular oxidative stress caused by the enzymatic oxidation of phenol-derivatives and the autoxidation of catechol-derivatives

3) Antioxidant activity of food-containing tripeptides and its effect on suppressing oxidative stress: rational screening and design of antioxidant tripeptides
